Offering mobile RV maintenance and repair service in the Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming area.
Unlike many companies who follow the campers south for the winter, we are here year-round offering mobile service during the cold months. Yes, that means even in the freezing temps we will try to get to you. Especially if it's a furnace or water system.
Drain any remaining water from the low point drain, grey/black tanks, and remove the plastic plug or anode from the water heater. Put the water heater in bypass/winterization configuration and then find your water pump. Many manufacturers have added a pigtail to the system to easily pull anitfreeze through the pump. If you don't have one, get an inexpensive 1/2 inch swivel elbow from the hardware store, attach it to about 24" of tubing. Then remove the draw side of hose from the pump and attach your new pigtail. Put the tube in the antifreeze and turn on the pump to draw the antifreeze through all water faucets. Don't forget the exterior shower if you have one!
In Colorado, we can get some fairly cold temps, well below freezing. Its is important to remove and store your batteries inside where the temps should remain above freezing. All batteries are sensitive to freezing temps. And yes, the concrete garage floor is just fine. We no longer have canvas covered batteries, so the plastic ones can contact the ground and not lose any charge. Lead acid batteries are filled with distilled water. When it gets cold, it freezes the distilled water even if you have it plugged in outside. Ice cubes don't take a charge!
Some people will argue that covers can damage exterior paint and decals. I agree with that. BUT... I also feel that covers are important in extending the life of your roof membrane/seals. Since we usually tuck the campers away for 3-4 months of the year, a cover will provide 3-4 months of UV and weather protection. So you decide: a little scratched paint, or replacing the roof membrane quicker...
